[Sailor Venus' Past, Minako's Heartbreak]

	Scene 5: Minako is in a hotel room with someone she calls "Katerina-oneesama". The "oneesama" means "big sister" and indicates that Katerina is older, a close friend/relative, and very respected by Minako [the -sama is very polite. Usually people call older sisters "Oneechan"]. Katarina talks about Minako being Sailor-V, so it is obvious that Katerina also knows Minako's alternate identity. Katarina: "Minako-chan --- No. Sailor-V. I was so surprised when I found out you were okay. Why didn't you tell us you were alive?"
	After pausing for a second, Katarina adds: "I heard you are still fighting as Sailor-V." Minako says quietly, looking down, "Yes." Katarina: "I want to help you. You're with the Sailorsenshi, aren't you? Can you introduce me to them?" Minako ignores Katarina's question and says desperately: "Alan-san.... Is Alan okay?"
	Katarina pauses, surprised, and then says: "He's fine. Alan really wanted to see you." She pulls a picture out of her pocket and shows it to Minako. It's of Katarina with a handsome dark-haired man.
	Minako looks wounded by seeing the picture, and she then looks up at Katarina and notices her necklace. Minako says quietly: "Oneesama (Big Sister), you still have that pendant."
	Katarina blinks, and then says: "Of course! After all, this was a birthday gift from you! Really. I want to help you. Please let me meet with the Sailorsenshi." Minako: "Oneesama, you're an Interpol** officer, and we have our own mission. I can't let you get involved. Oneesama. I'm glad I could see you again. Thank you. Sayonara.*" Minako hops up and runs out of the room. Katarina chases after her: "Minako-chan! Wait!"	* Sayonara means "The Long Goodbye" or "Goodbye for a Long time" or "Goodbye forever." Minako says this to indicate that she probably won't see Katarina again.
	Kunzite appears in the room in front of Katarina, blocking her way. Katarina gasps: "Kunzite-sama!" Kunzite grumbles, "It is useless to sound her out. Change into the youma Papillon* and attack her!" * Papillon means "Butterfly" in French. Kunzite strikes Katarina with dark energy, and in a few moments we see a butterfly-youma explode out of the hotel window, yelling "Papillon!"

	Scene 6: Minako has wandered to the waterfront, where she stands looking out at the water. She pulls out a picture, where she's hugging onto the arm of the same man from Katarina's picture. Minako whispers: "Alan..."
	We hear a male voice whisper: "Minako...."
	Crumbling, Minako hugs the picture to herself. This man is (or was) obviously important to her. Minako cries, "Alan!" Suddenly, a green butterfly floats past Minako. She looks surprised and wonders, "A Butterfly? At this time of year?" Minako sees something huge flying towards her and gets out of the way, as a large claw weapon lands in the spot where Minako was just standing, and it leaves a crater in the cement. Minako gasps, "Who?!"
	Suddenly, a youma appears!! This youma is extremely ugly, with a butterfly thorax butt, wings for ears, and a large claw. Papillon: "If you died once, why hesitate to die again?" Minako: "A Youma? Okay." She pulls out her pen and holds it up. "VENUS POWER MAKE UP!!!" Minako transforms, and after she becomes Sailorvenus, Papillon gasps: "What? Minako was Sailorvenus?!" Venus attacks Papillon, "CRESCENT BEAM!!" Papillon jumps out of the way and says: "It's useless. I know your fighting techniques. Take this!!" She sends out a huge flock of butterflies towards Venus, and they surround her. "I'm familiar with all of your weaknesses!" Venus cries out, trapped up in the air by the butterflies, and they are hurting her with their energy. She looks at the youma and sees that Papillon has a necklace around her neck....! Venus gasps: "You're Oneesama...! Why...?!" Papillon: "Now tell me the names of the senshi." Venus shakes her head, still horrified. "Katarina-oneesama..." Artemis, Luna, and Usagi come into the scene. Artemis shouts: "Sailorvenus!!" Usagi looks at Venus and the monster and asks the cats: "What should we do? That youma looks strong!" Luna looks around, and she notices a motorboat parked next to the dock. Luna gestures to the boat and says, "Usagi-chan, let's escape on that." Usagi looks baffled and complains to Luna, "HOW am I supposed to do THAT? I can't drive a motor boat!" Luna points out: "Then why don't you be a sailor?"
	Usagi has a realization, and pulls out her costume pen from her pocket. She says, "OH! I see! All right! Moon Power, turn me into a sailor!" Usagi transforms into a sailor, in a blue and white sailor suit. Luna and Artemis attack the youma, pushing Papillon into the water. The youma's attack fades and Minako drops to the ground. Usagi catches her before she hits the cement. Luna says: "Let's get out of here!" Usagi nods, "Un."

	Scene 7: The cats, Venus, and Usagi are in to boat, racing away from the dock. Venus asks: "How did you know where I was?"
	Artemis tells her: "We just looked for a hotel with a guest named Katarina." Luna adds: "And we found out she was staying at a hotel by the harbor." Papillon rises from the water near the docks, and looks around. "Where did she go? She won't get away!" Papillon flies towards the boat.
	Usagi turns around (she's driving the boat) to say: "Anyway, let's get---" She notices the Youma coming towards them. "Here she comes!" COMMERCIAL BREAK	I own this cel. If you are interested, look HERE!
	Usagi: "Full speed ahead!!" Luna looks back, seeing that they are beating the youma. "Looks like we can outrun her." Venus looks to Usagi and says, "Usagi-chan... Thank you." Usagi smiles. "No problem!" But Usagi notices how sad Minako looks. Luna looks over and sees that they are heading towards a cruise ship. "Usagi-chan, let's get into that cruise ship over there." Usagi: "Aye-aye!" Venus, Artemis, Luna, and Usagi climb the LONG ladder from the water to the top deck of the cruise ship. Venus goes up first, and then Artemis and Luna jump off of Usagi as Usagi finally appears over the side of the boat. Usagi: "OOH! I can't go anymore." Luna: "Move it." Usagi complains: "But you took a free ride on my head!" Venus ignores the argument and says: "Anyway, let's hide." They head off into the ship. Papillon appears over the swimming pool of the cruise ship. Papillon: "Where is she hiding?" A door opens, and the two cats and Venus and Usagi wander into a deserted lounge-type room with a bar. It's dark. Usagi comments: "Looks like it's unoccupied." Artemis nods. "But stay quiet. The youma knows we're hiding here."

	Scene 8: (Minako and Alan) Luna asks Venus: "By the way, Venus. You called the youma Katarina-oneesama. Who is she?" Usagi gives Luna "the look". "Luna, there are things people don't want to talk about." Venus shakes her head. "It's okay. It was half a year ago. Dark Kingdom youma were appearing in London when I lived there. It was there I met Alan and fell in love with him..." Setting: London, 6 months ago. You can see Big Ben in the scene scan. By the way, I lived in England for a year, and the artists did a FANTASTIC job in this episode with the British settings.
	Minako lived in London for awhile, and while she was there she met Alan. Alan was a handsome man, older than Minako, but they cared for each other. On Minako's side, it was love. And it seemed that way on Alan's side too...
	During Venus's monologue, we see images of Alan and Minako walking together on a foggy London night. Minako trips "accidentally" and she falls into Alan's arms.
	Alan looks surprised as Minako falls against him. Then they smile at each other.

	Scene 9: (Minako and Katarina) Setting: London, 6 months ago. Venus continues: "One day, I was involved in a criminal case..." We see Katarina running down a London street, in a police uniform. She's chasing after a man. Suddenly the man turns around and picks up a little girl, who starts to scream. The man transforms into a hideous green monster!! High above, Sailor-V appears on a rooftop. She jumps off the roof towards the monster.
	Sailor-V slams into the monster with a kick, and the monster drops the girl. Sailor-V then destroys the monster. Katarina looks on in awe as this happens.
	Sailor-V picks up the girl and sets her aside safely, and the little girl says, "Thank you!" Sailor-V and Katarina smile at each other. Venus continues: "After that, we became friends. She did a lot of things for me like teaching me English and becoming my counselor. I looked up to her like a read older sister. And she also treated me like her own sister."
	Katarina was like a beloved older sister for Minako, who was lonely in this foreign country. Katarina and Minako would go shopping together, and they enjoyed spending time together. Katarina helped Minako with her English and took her to all kinds of interesting places in England. They also fought crime together, and Minako helped Interpol as Sailor-V. The picture on the left is a nice example of an English street, with Big Ben in the background again.

	Scene 10: (Minako introduces Katarina and Alan) Setting: London, 6 months ago. Minako (in the past): "Oneesama, Alan-kun, hurry!" Venus (in the present): "I introduced Alan to her, and the three of us played around [at the amusement park, etc.]." Minako loved Alan and Katarina so much that she wanted them to meet each other. So, the three of them went together to an amusement park.
	Katarina and Alan hit it off right away, and Minako never noticed that they were spending more time paying attention each other than to her.
	Although she didn't know it, both Alan and Katarina thought of Minako as a child, and the trip to the amusement park was more to indulge Minako than anything else because they both cared about her. However, Alan was falling for Katarina, who he thought of as an adult.

	Minako was enjoying introducing her friend to her "boyfriend"... she didn't see the looks her to loved ones were giving each other.

Page 8 Scene 11: (The Death of Sailor-V) Setting: London, 6 months ago. Venus: "But one day..." It was a routine assignment for Katarina and Sailor-V: the investigation of criminal activities at a warehouse. Katarina and Sailor-V stand in front of the huge building. They are both hiding against the front of the door. Sailor-V makes a break for it, and runs in. Sailor-V sees at the end of the building a man (or a youma) and then she sees a grenade fly towards her and it lands in front of her. There is the sound of a HUGE explosion. Katarina is thrown several feet away from the warehouse, and she turns to look back at it. The warehouse is ENGLUFED in flames, and it collapses on itself. Katarina screams: "MINAKO-CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sailor-V wasn't dead, however. She sat, wounded, in an alleyway. Her mask had been ripped off, so she was both Sailor-V and Minako at the same time. Minako is obviously very injured, and she limps through the alleyway and falls against the wall in pain. Suddenly, Minako heard Alan's voice. She smiled, thinking surely he'd come for her. Then, Minako saw the couple standing at the end of the alleyway. Minako looked up, joy in her eyes, and whispered: "Alan!" Katarina grabs Alan's shirt and screams: "Alan!! Minako-chan, MINAKO-CHAN!" Alan holds Katarina's shoulders and asks, concerned, "What happened to Minako-chan?" Katarina falls against Alan, sobbing. He looks sad, then holds her. Alan whispers, "Hang on, I'm here for you..." Minako sunk to the ground, tears forming in her eyes and trickling down her cheeks. She realized now what she hadn't noticed before... that Katarina and Alan were in love with each other. Minako loved them both so much that she couldn't interfere, but she also loved Alan so much that she couldn't stand to see him with another. So, Minako decided to let the assumption stand: that Sailor-V had died that night in the flames of the warehouse. And Minako returned to Japan. Venus: "That's when I realized that Alan and Oneesama were in love. I disappeared that day. I thought it would be better for them if I stayed dead." Page 9 Scene 12: Setting: Back to the present. And so, Venus finishes her story. Luna whispers: "And you came back to Japan and..." Artemis looks upset. "You've been fighting to forget all those sad memories..." Usagi, who's head was down on the bar, looks up at Venus. There are tears in Usagi's eyes. "No! They can't be that cruel!!" Venus: "Usagi-chan..." The lights switch on, and Papillon enters the room. She says, "Are you so happy to be killed by me that you're crying? This will be your grave." Usagi: "I'm in a BAD mood. You're going to get really hurt! Moon Prism Power, MAKE UP!!!" Usagi transforms into Sailormoon. Papillon: "What? You're Sailormoon?!" Sailormoon: "I don't care if you find out my identity. For love and justice, the beautiful sailor suited soldier, Sailormoon! In the Moon's name, I'll punish you!" Papillon laughs: "Enough talk, clumsy fool." Sailormoon: "I won't run around like I usually do! I won't forgive you for stepping all over an innocent girl's heart!" Papillon changes her arm into a scythe-claw and prepares to attack. "DIE!!" Sailormoon: "MOON TIARA ACTION!!!" Usagi throws the tiara at Papillon, and knocks her against the wall. Instead of her normal "Refresh" tactic with the Moon Stick, Sailormoon instead is trying to hurt Papillon. This scene is one of the reasons why I think they didn't air this episode in the DIC version. Sailormoon is VERY angry at what Katarina did to Minako, and she actually wants to DESTROY [yes, this means kill in a way...] the youma that was Katarina. At first, Sailorvenus does nothing to stop her.
Then, as the tiara connects with Katarina-youma, the necklace around her neck breaks and bounces off. Sailorvenus sees it fall, and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, and sees inside a picture of her younger self, Katarina, and Alan together. Venus is stunned that Katarina has kept such a thing so close to herself. And it's then that Venus remembers that Katarina DID love her, and didn't realize that she was hurting her by loving Alan. Venus begins to cry: "Please help her! It's my fault she was turned into a youma! She knew I was a Sailorsenshi. That's why the Dark Kingdom used her! It's not her fault!" Sailormoon: "But she betrayed you, who trusted her as a sister!" Sailormoon begins to cry too. Venus, crying, "Please save her..." Sailormoon: "But, she took away your loved one!" Venus: "He... Alan love her." Venus: "Please..." Sailormoon looks torn, but then she nods. "I understand." She brings out her Moon Princess Wand and shouts, "MOON HEALING ESCALATION!!!!" Papillon is thrown up into the air and surrounded with the Silver Crystal's energy. Katarina/Papillon shout: "REFRESH!!" Katarina falls to the ground in a heap. I own this cel. If you are interested, look HERE. Venus runs to Katarina and hugs her close. "Oneesama! Oneesama." Katarina stiffens, and then hugs Venus back, her eyes filling with tears. "Minako-chan, I'm sorry!" Venus: "Mmmmm mmm." She shakes her head negatively. Katarina: "I never knew about your feelings, Minako-chan. I thought you were still a child. I'm sorry..." The scene fades.
Page 10 Last Scene: It's now dawn, and Usagi, Makoto, Ami, and Rei stand looking out at Minako who stands at the railing watching a ship sailing off into the sunrise. Rei: "What happened to Minako?" Ami: "She looks so sad..." Makoto: "Shouldn't we comfort her?" Usagi shakes her head. "Leave her alone." Rei, Ami, Makoto: "Eh?!" Usagi: "Minako-chan's more mature than any of us." Minako looks down at the picture of Alan and her in her hand. The she looks up and out to the ocean to where Katarina's ship once was. Minako: "This is good. After all, Alan chose Oneesama." Minako looks down at the picture of Alan and her in her hand. The she looks up and out to the ocean to where Katarina's ship once was. "If they are happy, that's good." "That's good." The scene freezes. Then, the next scene is of Minako letting the photograph go, and it catches in the breeze and blows up into the air. Minako watches as the picture sails away on the breeze, and then the screen fades to black. END EPISODE 42 BISHOJO SENSHI SAILORMOON
